What to Expect

When you book a trip with us, know that our goal is to provide you with a heightened level of service compared to our competition.

These trips are highly customizable.  All trips last between 4 to 8 hours in length and we can accommodate any request.  If you feel uneasy about a long and arduous trek, let us know, we have many canyons that will let you get just a taste of canyoneering without very large committing day long trips.  We also have some very long canyons for the die-hard’s looking to expand their comfort zones.  This also rings true with our hikes and 4×4 routes, we can offer many options.  Also understand that unlike some of our competitors, we do not combine groups together.  Your family will be the only ones going out on any certain day.  Combining groups together can sometimes be awkward.  Lets just make things easy.  We don’t like being herded around like cattle and we doubt you do either.

We make you lunch.  (for full day Hikes or Canyoneering)

Please also let us know if you have a special request such as Vegetarian, Kosher, Vegan, Nut Allergies, etc.

Our Guides

We think very fondly of our guides.  Each member of the Seldom Seen Adventure family is a competent, friendly dude or dudette.  We pride ourselves at going the extra mile to insure our clients are satisfied.  On your trip you may have one or two guides accompany you (usually depending on your group size).  Each guide can safely take you and your group through the canyons solo if needs be.

We pick you up

Where ever you are staying in the area within reason, we will pick you up and take you to the canyon.  No worries about extra gas or driving your car up some obscure dirt road.

Protect!

One of our major concerns is helping you discover canyoneering as safely as will permit.  Please wear closed toe shoes.  Also so you can enjoy the trip better, bring adequate sun protection.  We supply you with all the technical gear you will need (harness, helmet, etc.).   Also know that Canyoneering eats clothing and gear.  Do not wear something you don’t mind ripping, tearing, scraping, scuffing etc.  This is also true about packs, the abrasive nature of Sandstone is notorious for wearing holes in packs.  We will have pack rentals available shortly (remind me).

Hydrate!

Please remember to bring adequate water.  Bring at least 70 oz.  When it heats up, bring at least 100 oz.  CamelBack’s work well.

Prepare!

Be prepared to understand that there is no way we can insure you won’t get a scrape or a bruise.  These things are considered glory marks and are to be celebrated!  Also understand that there is a huge commitment to Canyoneering.  Once we begin the canyon, there is no turning back.  Once we have passed the first rappel, we must press on through the canyon or to an exit which isn’t always readily available.

Any further questions please don’t hesitate to call us directly at 1-888-418-9908

Sincerely

Nick Smith
